The basics
What are rubber surfaces
Teping® sports surfaces are made of SBR rubber crumb and EPDM granules with a polyurethane binder.
Seamless surfaces are laid on site over asphalt, concrete or prepared ground: they are resilient, let water through and suit playgrounds and sports grounds.
Sport Roll surfaces are made in the factory and glued to the base in sports halls, and the Sport Roll Base underlay is the base for polyurethane sports surfaces.

All seven rolled coatings are made 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm thick. Rolls are cut to order from 3 m long; the maximum length depends on the thickness. Our sales team will confirm the exact length.

What the standards test
We choose the thickness and build-up under play equipment by the fall height. Please include it in your enquiry.
EN 1177
Impact attenuation
The surface is tested with a falling headform. It passes when the head injury criterion HIC stays at or below 1000 and the acceleration at or below 200 g. The result is the critical fall height for that thickness and build-up.
EN 1176-1
Where a soft surface is needed
Under equipment with a free height of fall above 0.6 m. The surface's critical fall height must be at least the equipment's fall height, and the impact area must extend at least 1.5 m around it.

Outdoor sports areas
Sets requirements for synthetic surfaces of tracks, courts and multi-sport areas: force reduction, vertical deformation, slip resistance, tensile strength and water permeability.

Answers to common questions
Sport Classic, Sport EPDM or Sport Combi?
Sport Classic of black rubber crumb is the reliable budget option. Sport EPDM gives bright colours and withstands freeze-thaw cycles. Sport Combi combines a black crumb shock pad with a coloured EPDM top: bright and cost-effective.
Can a rubber surface be laid on asphalt or on the ground?
Yes. Asphalt and concrete are cleaned and primed with the binder. A ground base needs a compacted build-up of sand, crushed stone and screenings, good drainage and geotextile under the surface.
When can the playground be opened?
Foot traffic is possible after 24 hours, the surface is fully dry after 72 hours. Vehicles need 3–5 days.
How much binder does rubber crumb need?
Teping AD RC takes 15–25 % of the crumb mass, depending on the crumb size. For 10 mm of rubber crumb surface that is about 7 kg of crumb and 1.6 kg of binder per square metre.
